The looks are comprised of tailored classics punched up in spring's brightest hues (take a peek at this red-orange trench!). I'm crazy about this fitted chambray blazer, and I'll definitely be investing in some new colors options of my favorite Blythe blouse (the neon rose one has my name written all over it). RED CARPET: SAG AWARDS 2012

Sunday nights are so much better during awards season, don't you agree? I spent last night curled up on my couch (in my new J.Crew pajamas) watching the SAG Awards. The show itself was short and sweet compared to the Globes, but the red carpet was just as glamourous. There were so many gorgeous looks! Red seemed to be the color of the evening with several starlets including Sofia Vergara and Kyra Sedgwick donning the bright hue. Michelle Williams blew me away in her red Valentino gown. The lace detailing on that dress is so beautiful. The styling was so right on, too - simple makeup, simple accessories. I absolutely adored Emma Stone's black Alexander McQueen dress. The fit-and-flare dress along with her bold red lips felt very old Hollywood glamour to me. Rose Byrne definitely took the biggest fashion risk of the evening, and, in my option, it paid off. I loved that Elie Saab jumpsuit! Super chic - and it still had enough sparkle for a red carpet. Any favorites? Countdown to the Oscars is officially on!

Am I the only one who hasn't seen this? I just discovered Hermés' "Paris Mon Ami," and I'm so inspired! The blog is the second installment of last year's J'aime mon carré and offers a dazzling view into the world of Hermés through the eyes of four girls who are from four different corners of the world (London, Tokyo, New York, and Paris). Photographed by Craig McDean, the stunning images show the young women sporting piles of the enamel bangles and wearing their scarves every which way (lots of inspiration there). RED CARPET: GOLDEN GLOBES 2012

It's awards season! Don't you love this time of year? I certainly do. I spent last night curled up on my couch watching the stars wine and dine at The Golden Globes. While I felt like there were some surprises, I was all-in-all pleased with the award winners (i.e. Modern Family for Best Comedy Series and Michelle Williams for Best Actress). I was even more pleased with what I saw on the red carpet! Hollywood's leading ladies looked stunning in a combination of jewel-toned hues (Frieda Pinto's teal Prada was a standout) and more subdued blush and ivory tones. Michelle Williams wowed me in her Jason Wu navy gown (though I really would have preferred it without that headband). Even the young starlets delivered on the red carpet. Modern Family's Sarah Hyland and Ariel Winter looked amazing! My very favorite of the evening was the J. Mendel column gown worn by Claire Danes. The black cut-out design of the sleeves was such a beautiful detail, and I love that she kept her makeup and jewelry super simple. Any favorites? Tell me what you think. One thing's for sure: I have a lot of movies I need to see before the Oscars!

SOMETHING TO DO IN 2012

Am I the only one who doesn't know how to french braid? I'm embarassed to admit it, but I've just never learned this little hair trick. Regular braids? No problem. French braids, on the other hand, always seemed more complicated to me, and I'm usually in such a hurry to run out the door that I've just never even attempted one. But not anymore! I'm going to master the french braid this year. Just look at all of the pretty things I could do to my hair if I picked up this skill! I think this video tutorial from The Beauty Department is a good place to start. I admit my inspiration images are a bit ambitious, but I figure once I get the basics down that these aren't so far off, right?

The Pantone Color of the Year for 2012 has been unveiled. Tangerine Tango, a deep bright orange, has been the "it" color of the runway, cosmetic palettes, and interior spaces for quite some time now. I love how a pop of orange can work effortlessly as a statement color. Try pairing a Tangerine Tango bag with a patterned top and neutral denim. Here are few of my favorites!

While we're on the subject of brights, I thought I would take this time to invite you all to PHENOMENON. Mark February 4th on your calendars because you won't want to miss this event! In celebration of legendary artist Shepard Fairey's citywide mural project, we are hosting a neon-themed (that's right!) dance extravaganza DJ'd by the artist himself at the Dallas Contemporary. There will be a selection of Dallas' best food trucks with tasty treats, along with some fantastic cocktails for the evening. And, of course, we've got some neon-tastic party decor (one word: glow bar) to light up the night. I've been working on this event with my co-chairs Meghan Looney and Hannah Hofffman, along with the Dallas Contemporary team, and I can promise you it's going to be an amazing night! Who knows what 2012 holds, but one thing's for sure, we've got a very bright year ahead of us. From all over fluoro to neon pops, the S/S 2012 runways were all about color. (Take a peek at Christian Siriano's neon green pieces for a little inspiration!) The colored denim trend looks to be staying around for another season with Christopher Kane's collaboration with J Brand. Not to mention, have you seen J.Crew's new colored skinny jeans? I saw them first hand this past weekend and they're amazing! I bought the neon persimmon color for myself. This year, the brighter the better!

This outfit is a combination of several of my very favorite pieces this season. All of these pieces - especially the scarf - are in heavy rotation in my closet. (Well, everything except that Celine bag you see there. That blue beauty was on loan from my mother. Too bad she loves it just as much as I do and won't let me adopt it.) This J.Crew sweater is at least six years old, and I find myself reaching for it season after season. Have you all tried anything from the DL1961 denim line yet? Obsessed! I loved my blue pair so much that I bought the same ones in this rust color. It's a nice change from the everyday blue - plus this color goes with everything! The weather here is supposed to get much cooler next week (let's hope so!), so this might be the last time I can go without a heavy coat for the next couple of months!

VACATION SNAPSHOTS

....aaand I'm back! Vacation is officially over, and it's back to work today! (It's always so hard to go back, isn't it?) What a week! My beach trip was so incredible. It was great spending time with my family and a group of my friends. We relaxed in the sun (with margaritas in hand), played plenty of games, and we even went fishing one day! THE BEST IS YET TO COME

Since I can't bring you all to the beach with me, I thought I'd bring a little poolside glam to your computer via artist Nina Nolte. These strikingly colorful paintings are a part of the German-based artist's series "The Best is Yet to Come." The poolside scenes are reminiscent of a different era. The women are all oh-so-glamourous lounging by the pool in their brilliant jewels, oversized shades and brightly colored turbans (maybe I need to add a head scarf to my suitcase?). Happy Friday! Am I the only one who felt like this week was extra, extra long? I've been counting down the days until Christmas, and I'm so glad it's (almost) finally here! 'Tis the season for holiday parties! There's nothing I like more than a good party dress, and any of these options would do just fine at your next holiday fete. Happy Monday! The countdown to Christmas is officially under two weeks - can you believe it? I was in major Christmas mode this weekend. I finished my gift shopping, started the wrapping process, and began to deliver the popcorn bags I ordered from I Love Popcorn - the most delicious popcorn ever! I also made some progress on finishing up my new apartment. With the help of my boyfriend, we managed to assemble my new shelves from Ikea. (Ok. Let's be honest. He did most of the assembling...) Since the shelves are up, I have no excuse to not have that office unpacked this week. (You can follow me on Instagram @bagather for more apartment updates!) Hope you all had a great weekend!

It's always the little things that make it really start to feel like home, and having my art hung is one of those little things! Thought I would share with you a quick glimpse into the new Cocoa & Hearts paintings in my room. (Better pictures to come later!) These color block lovelies were painted by Jen Ramos, the fab blogger behind MadebyGirl. I was hunting for new pieces for my bedroom, and the ladies behind Pulp Design Studios led me to Jen. The inspiration behind the paintings came from the colorful blanket that lays at the end of my bed. I think it turned out just perfect. Before the chill arrived here in Dallas last weekend, there was a moment there where we were having the perfect fall weather. It's about that time! With December's arrival later this week, I've got red, red, red on my mind. I actually don't wear red that often throughout the year (I've never felt it was "my color"), but during the holidays I just have to pull out a few red pieces here and there. Happy Monday! It was especially hard to get up this morning after the long holiday weekend. (Couldn't we have just one more day?) I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Did you eat all sorts of yummy things? Any favorites? My pumpkin cheesecake was a hit at our Thanksgiving meal. I'm even thinking about making it an annual dish. I wish I could say that the rest of my weekend was relaxing, but I spent the last three days packing and unpacking. I'm officially moved into my new place, though, and I love it. The boxes really feel like they're never ending, but the place is slowly coming together. Of course, fresh flowers (peonies!) and a new Alexandra von Furstenberg neon pink tray from my mother make it really feel like home. I hope you all have a great week!

GIFTING: KEEL'S SIMPLE DIARY

I've always loved keeping a journal. It's a good way to de-stress (at least for me), and I like the idea of being able to look back through the pages years from now. Lately, however, journaling seems like "work" (sometimes looking at a blank page feels daunting, you know?) and my entires have been few and far between. Last Christmas, however, I received a journal from a friend that I can actually stick with: Keel's Simple Diary. This little book takes the "work" out of keeping a diary by filling the pages with various prompts. Each page begins with a multiple choice question on how your day was (A. a freakshow; B. a no-show; or C. a showdown), followed by a combination of quirky (Are you at peace with your hair?) and thought-provoking (Why is everything so complicated?) fill-in-the-blanks, and mini-checklists. It's the perfect way to give a clear - and quick - snapshot of your day. And it's a great gift idea, if you ask me!

I think you all know by now that I have a serious weakness for anything lucite. Take this combined with my affection for color (especially neon) and you've summed up Alexandra Von Furstenberg's Fearless furniture line. The gem-like collection - which includes everything from coffee tables to accent pieces - is comprised of light reflecting acrylic with bold, neon-colored edges. It almost appears as if a neon light is shining through the piece. All of the colors are so spectacular (any favorites?)! Most of the furniture pieces are made to order, so you can customize the pieces in any color and size your heart desires. The accessories are really my favorite - especially these picture frames. Any 4x6 would look better with a little neon behind it, right?

I almost always opt for neutrals (camels, blacks, grays) when it comes to my outerwear, but this season I'm thinking it's time look on the brighter side. A technicolor coat will give some life to your standard winter look - especially on those nights that are so cold that a coat is the only part of your outfit that people see. There's plenty of outerwear options out there to choose from. If pink is your color then this Kate Spade style is your coat. For a budget buy, I really love this one by B.B. Dakota, or this ASOS coat in bright kelly green. It's a sure way to bring some color to the gray days of winter!

The holidays are fast approaching, and I don't know about you all but I'm already feeling the pressure. While this season really is my favorite time of the year, sometimes just the thought of getting everything done in time (47 days, to be exact) can be a bit overwhelming. It's always nice to have a little bit of help - even if it's just the inspirational kind - which is why I am loving The Holiday Gift Guide. Created by HGTV's Emily Henderson, the guide offers 238 pages full of holiday ideas. From step-by-step gift wrapping instructions, to DIY decorations, to gift guides galore, this little e-mag has got it! It's definitely worth a flip through.

By the way, I've gotten several e-mails requesting a gift guide for the blog. Not to worry readers, I've already started putting together several gift guides of my own that I'll be post over the next few weeks. I've been eyeing this Alexander Wang Mini Rocco Duffel for what seems like forever now. The style is nothing new (I think it's been around for at least three years now), but I haven't tired of it. It's quickly become a go-to handbag that, like all Wang's accessories, just has that cool factor. The studs at the bottom add just the right amount of edge to the otherwise classic handbag. (My sister is the lucky owner of a gorgeous black Rocco, and I'm thinking I should add it to a "To Borrow" list...) There's so many different color/hardware options. While the red one is hard to pass on, I think I would opt for the soft gray version or, of course, classic black with gold studs. Which color is your favorite? Gold hardware or silver?

While it's still a little warm for my taste, it's starting to feel more and more like fall (finally!). This dress has been perfect for that kind of weather. The wool fabric gives you enough warmth for cooler temperatures, but the sleeveless detail leaves plenty of room for flexibility to wear this dress throughout the year. Not to mention, I'm in love with its bold print. You're going to see this jean jacket quite a bit in these posts. I pair it with everything. True story: my friend Morgan gave me this jacket for my 11th birthday. It's one of the things on my "grab in case of fire" list. Every girl needs a good jean jacket!

Bordeaux is a recent favorite color of mine. It started with my discovery of Tom Ford's "Bordeaux Lust" nail polish - the perfect deep wine color for the fall season - and extended to this pair of Rag & Bone skinny jeans. After wearing the jeans nearly three times last week, I realized that the bordeaux color is quickly becoming my new fall neutral (who knew the deep red hue would go so well with so many colors?). Back to Monday already? I kicked off the weekend on Thursday night at the 2x2 First Look event here in Dallas where there was this enormous t-shirt paintball wall. How cool is that? The rest of my weekend was exactly what I needed: restful and easy. I spent the last few days taking on plenty of fun projects around the home, including baking these delicious Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwiches. The best part was surely the time spent glittering pumpkins. My boyfriend let me take over his dining room table (which is now most likely permanently covered in glitter) and bedazzle some mini-pumpkins. Speaking of glitter, how about these lovely ballet flats I spotted at J.Crew? I also fell in love with this Tibi blazer - the lace makes for the perfect interior. I hope you all had a great weekend!
